About
FABELIST is an interdisciplinary platform of contemporary visual art, writing, performance, journalism and debate
Words
Fabelist’s journal is a monthly collection of topical journalism and creative writing. The content aims to present original thought from up and coming creative voices to bring alternative expression to cultural, social and political concerns.
Art
Fabelist’s quarterly group exhibitions challenge emerging artists to step out of the comfort zone of their professional creative practice to respond innovatively to thematic projects. The intent is to push thinking processes in new directions to produce unique, collaborative pieces.
Community
Fabelist’s online blog emulates the chatter of the art school studio or academic seminar. Discussion is key to the development of ideas and the cross pollination of creative disciplines. Members are therefore encouraged to share snippets of their work in progress and to critique their peers’ endeavours in order to further their ideas for new projects. We invite you to delve into this hub of the thought processes and sketchbooks of practicing writers and artists.
Outreach
Just as contributors share knowledge and experience to their benefit, they are also encouraged to do so with the wider community. Fabelist therefore organises free art classes for young people in North London. These are run run voluntarily by professional artists with the aim to stimulate children to engage in contemporary creative practice.
